Gender balance in engineering
Dr Dame Sue Ion DBE FRS FREng talks about her personal experiences of gender balance in engineering, and the bigger picture in the engineering industry past, present and future.
The Nuclear AMRC is delighted to welcome Dame Sue Ion, former group director of technology at British Nuclear Fuels Ltd, government advisor on science and engineering, and chair of the UK’s Nuclear Innovation Research advisory Board. Dame Sue will discuss her experience of gender balance issues throughout her career, and highlight why the engineering industries need a broad and diverse workforce to thrive.
The free event will include a presentation from Nuclear AMRC chief executive Mike Tynan, a tour of the Nuclear AMRC’s research factory, plus networking and lunch.
This event is exclusively for staff and students of the University of Sheffield, and Nuclear AMRC member companies.
There will be free transport from the main campus, with pick-up from Durham Road at 8.45am. The Nuclear AMRC is a signatory to the Women In Nuclear industry charter, and is working towards the Athena Swan bronze award.

What are my transport options getting to the event?
There will be coaches organised for those wishing to use these.
Bus will depart from Durham Road at 8:45 and then return to Durham Road by 13:30.
